PawNook — Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the PawNook iOS application ("PawNook", "the App", "we") developed by Yuliia Kulakova ("the Developer") handles your information. PawNook was designed around a simple principle: your pet's records belong to you. The App works without accounts, collects no personal data, contains no advertising and no third-party trackers or analytics.

1. Information the App Handles

PawNook stores the information you choose to enter about your pets. This may include:

• Pet profile details: name, species, breed, sex, birth date, adoption date, photo, microchip number, insurance policy number, notes
• Health records: weight entries, vaccinations, medications, parasite treatments, veterinary visits and their costs
• Care reminders you create
• Daily diary entries: meals, water, walks, potty, mood, symptoms, free-form notes
• Photos and documents you add (for example vaccination cards or laboratory results)
• Contact details you choose to save for your veterinarian, groomer or trainer
• App preferences such as the selected theme and units

PawNook does not collect: your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, health data about people, advertising identifiers, or any usage analytics.

2. How Your Information Is Used

Your information is used solely to provide the features of the App on your device:

• To display your pets' records, charts and history
• To schedule local notifications for the reminders you create
• To generate on-device insights and summaries from your own entries
• To produce a PDF report that you can share with your veterinarian, if you choose to
• To display Home Screen widgets showing your own upcoming care

Your information is never used for advertising, profiling, marketing, model training, or sold or rented to anyone.

3. Data Storage and Security

PawNook stores your data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework, inside the App's private container protected by iOS sandboxing and device encryption. Large items such as photos and scanned documents are stored as external files within that same protected container.

Because there is no account and no Developer server, there is no central database of users to breach. Your device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, together with iOS encryption, protect the data at rest.

4. iCloud Sync

PawNook can synchronise your pet records across your own Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit private database. This is important to understand clearly:

• Sync uses your personal iCloud account, not a server operated by the Developer.
• Data in the CloudKit private database is accessible only to you, under your Apple Account. The Developer has no access to it and cannot read, export or recover it.
• Apple processes this data as part of providing iCloud. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• If you disable iCloud for PawNook in iOS Settings, the App continues to work fully with local storage only.

Widgets read a small snapshot of your upcoming care from a private App Group container on your own device so they can render without launching the App. This snapshot never leaves your device.

5. Device Permissions

PawNook requests the following permissions only when you use the related feature, and explains why at the moment of the request:

• Camera — to photograph vaccination cards and veterinary documents. Text recognition runs entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Images are not uploaded anywhere.
• Photo Library — to let you add existing photos of your pet or their documents. PawNook accesses only the items you explicitly select.
• Notifications — to deliver the care reminders you create. All notifications are scheduled and delivered locally by iOS; there is no push server.

You may revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. The rest of the App continues to work.

6. Third-Party Services

PawNook contains no third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, attribution, crash reporting or social networks.

The only external services involved are provided by Apple:

• Apple iCloud / CloudKit — optional sync of your data within your own Apple Account (see section 4).
• Apple App Store / StoreKit — processing of purchases and subscriptions. Payments are handled by Apple; the Developer never sees your payment details. PawNook receives only an anonymous confirmation of whether a purchase is active.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

The Developer does not share, sell, rent or disclose your information, because the Developer does not have it.

Information leaves your device only when you deliberately export or share it — for example by generating a PDF report and sending it to your veterinarian, or by exporting your data. In that case you choose the recipient and the channel, and you are responsible for the sharing.

8. Your Rights and Control

You have complete and direct control over your data at all times:

• Access — all your data is visible inside the App.
• Export — you can generate a PDF report of a pet's records and export your data.
• Correction — every record can be edited at any time.
• Deletion — deleting a record, a pet, or the App itself removes the data from your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, deleting data in the App removes it from your iCloud as well.

Because the Developer holds no copy of your data, requests to access or delete data cannot be fulfilled by the Developer — you already hold the only copies, on your device and in your own iCloud.

9. Data Retention

Your data is retained on your device for as long as you keep it. The Developer retains nothing. Uninstalling the App removes its local data from the device; data previously synced to your iCloud is removed according to your iCloud settings and Apple's policies.

10. Children's Privacy

PawNook is rated 9+ and is not directed at children. The App does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

11. International Users (GDPR / CCPA)

PawNook is available worldwide. Since the App does not collect, transmit or process personal data on any Developer-controlled server:

• There is no controller-held personal data to access, rectify, port or erase by request — you exercise these rights directly in the App.
• There is no international transfer of your data by the Developer.
• No personal information is "sold" or "shared" as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
• No consent banner is required, because no tracking or profiling takes place.

Where you enable iCloud sync, Apple acts as the provider of that service under its own terms and privacy policy.

12. Changes to This Policy

If this Policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will also be noted in the App's release notes.
